School bus crash in southeast Bakersfield leaves 1 dead

The bus was carrying football players from Golden Valley High School to the game scheduled between the Bulldogs and the Blades of East Bakersfield High. That game has been canceled.

00:00 Thank you, Tomas. We begin this hour with developing news as at least one

00:04 person is dead following a collision between a school bus and another

00:08 vehicle in southeast Bakersfield. The California Highway Patrol says the

00:12 crash happened just after 6 30 near the intersections of South Mount Vernon

00:16 Avenue and East Bell Terrace. CHP reporting the person who was killed was

00:21 in the other vehicle, not the school bus. Those on board the bus students and

00:25 the driver were said to have suffered minor injuries. Local football coach

00:30 whose team was not involved in the crash tells 23 ABC News it was carrying

00:34 the Golden Valley High School varsity football team to their game at East High

00:38 School. This was again last night. The game was canceled. The identity of the

00:41 person who died has yet to be released.
