00:00 Hello everyone this is Amina Ansari welcome to HW News English
00:05 Big news coming in A major mishap at Delhi airport was averted
00:09 on Wednesday morning after two Vissara aircraft were given permission, one to take off while
00:15 another was in process of landing. The take-off was luckily aborted after instruction from
00:21 the ATC. The Vissara flight UK725 from Delhi to Baghdogra was taking off from the newly
00:29 inaugurated runway at Delhi airport. And the Vissara flight from Ahmedabad to Delhi was
00:35 moving towards the end of the runway after landing on the parallel runway. Vissara aircraft
00:41 from Ahmedabad to Delhi which landed on the runway 29L was asked by ATC to cross runway
00:47 29R. The Vissara flight from Delhi to Baghdogra was asked to take off from the same runway
00:53 29R at the same time. Both the Vissara aircraft were given permission at the same time. But
01:00 the air traffic control took the control immediately. The ATC officer on duty asked the Vissara
01:06 flight to abort take-off. A major accident could have happened if the flight taking off
01:12 was not stopped by the air traffic control. According to the standard operation procedure,
01:17 no aircraft or vehicle movement is allowed during the process of take-off or landing.
01:24 The pilot on the Ahmedabad-Delhi flight realised that there was some mix-up and communicated
01:30 to the ATC after which the error was realised and the take-off permission for the Delhi-Baghdogra
01:36 aircraft was withdrawn. The Delhi-Baghdogra flight returned to the parking bay from the
01:40 active runway immediately after take-off was aborted. It was refuelled to ensure that the
01:46 plane had enough fuel to return to Delhi if the pilot encountered bad weather conditions
01:51 at Baghdogra. The braking system of the aircraft was also checked. In a statement to the media,
01:57 the airport official stated, "If the flight taking off was not stopped at the right time,
02:03 a major accident could have happened." The passengers in the Vissara aircraft UK725
02:09 from Delhi to Baghdogra became a little apprehensive when the pilot of the flight announced that
02:14 the plane would not take-off due to the instruction from the air traffic control. A take-off clearance
02:20 is not issued to an aircraft on one runway unless the aircraft from the second runway
02:25 has landed. However, if the aircraft is permitted to take-off from one runway and the aircraft
02:32 approaching the second runway decides to abort the landing, the flight path of the two aircraft
02:37 in the air may come in conflict, since the runways they were aligned are closely spaced.
