Players from Adamstown Rosebud FC and Broadmeadow Magic FC share their predictions on the future of women's football

00:02 The World Cup may be nearing a close, but the hype for women's football in the Hunter

00:07 certainly isn't.

00:08 We caught up with some local juniors to hear about their highlights.

00:15 Obviously when Sam Kerr scored the goal as well, it was just, everyone was just

00:19 screaming. I was so happy.

00:21 I think I lost my voice.

00:22 Many of the girls at Broadmeadow Magic and Adamstown Rosebud want to go pro,

00:27 following in the footsteps of their favourite players.

00:29 I like a few of them, but I do like Kyra Cooney-Cross because that's the

00:33 position that I play.

00:34 So I like to look up to her and play how she does.

00:38 Caitlin Ford, Ellie Carpenter or Hayley Rezo.

00:42 We asked these keen players for their predictions on the future of women's

00:46 football, both in the Hunter and right across Australia.

00:49 Making me excited and nervous at the same time.

00:54 Like women's football is growing a lot.

00:55 I think my daughters are a big influence on that as well.

00:59 World Cup's been really inspiring for girls and it's really encouraging them

01:02 to play soccer and learn new things.

01:04 Seeing those girls out there in Australia, getting behind them, it's really

01:07 moved me as a person and as a player, I guess.

01:10 Yeah, I've got a friend who never watched soccer, but we went down for an

01:13 excursion with school to watch one of the World Cup games and she was like so

01:17 into it. She was so excited.
