Set 23 years after the original story which inspired it, The Machine finds Bert Kreischer facing familial crisis and the arrival of his estranged father (Mark Hamill) when the ghost of his booze-soaked past arrives: a murderous mobster (Iva Babić) hellbent on kidnapping Bert back to the motherland to atone for his crimes. Together, he and his father must retrace the steps of his younger self (Jimmy Tatro) in the midst of a war between a sociopathic crime family while they attempt to find common ground.

00:00 Give me some life advice, some words of wisdom.
00:02 Everybody's gotta die sometime.
00:04 That's your advice?
00:05 As crazy as the script was,
00:07 the fact that the foundation of the story was true,
00:10 that he actually had been involved with the Russian mafia,
00:14 I thought, well, now you've got my attention.
00:17 He is a walking encyclopedia of comedy,
00:20 so he has natural timing to him
00:22 that you wouldn't know unless you dug a little.
00:25 This is how we say thank you in Florida.
00:28 (grunting)
00:31 (laughing)
00:32 Holy shit!
00:33 First Zoom I had with Mark,
00:35 he said exactly what my dad said.
00:36 He goes, "Why do you take your shirt off?
00:38 "What, do you need to do that?"
00:39 And I went, "Let's cast him.
00:41 "He's a perfect fit."
00:42 I read it and I went, "Huh?"
00:44 And I think that's really the perfect attitude
00:46 for Albert to have because he loves his son very deeply,
00:50 but he also doesn't really understand his son all that well.
00:53 Bert and I will frequently be like,
00:54 "Mark trusts us, it's gonna be hilarious."
00:56 And he's been very, very game for the ride
00:58 that he signed up for.
