Indiana couple Amy Siewe and Dave Roberts moved to Florida to engage in their passion of python-hunting. They'll be in the Everglades from August 4 to August 13 to take part in the 2023 Florida Python Challenge, a conservation effort that hopes to reduce the population of the invasive Burmese python.

00:06 to the Everglades on Friday,
00:07 including a couple who have made hunting pythons
00:10 their livelihood.
00:11 - Every single python that we're taking out
00:13 of the Everglades is saving the lives
00:15 of hundreds of our native species.
00:17 - Amy Sewey, otherwise known as the Python Huntress,
00:20 gave up a career in real estate to hunt the big snakes,
00:23 bringing her fiance Dave Roberts with her from Indiana.
00:26 - This is not just our livelihood, this is our life.
00:28 - The two say they go out every night,
00:30 hoping to reduce the population of the Burmese python,
00:33 which is considered an invasive species
00:35 in the Florida Everglades.
00:37 The Florida Python Challenge encourages its participants
00:40 to do their part for the Everglades ecosystem.
00:42 $30,000 in prizes are in the running
00:45 from August 4 to August 13.
