00:00 Josko, congratulations, you're now officially a Manchester City player. How does that sound?
00:05 Thank you. First of all, it sounds good, finally. I did it, we did it. It feels good to be part of this team.
00:19 Tell us a little bit about the discussions that you've had with City. What has convinced you to come to us?
00:25 It's just simple, you know. Especially after the perfect season, I would say, last season, I decided to join you and to become one of you.
00:40 To learn from the best and of course to be coached by the best coach in the world. Especially Kovac, at the moment, is here.
00:48 He joined as well, so it's one more plus for me to join here and I'm happy to be here.
00:56 You mentioned the perfect season last year. City were treble winners. It's the greatest season in the club's history.
01:02 You played against us twice in that campaign. You also presumably watched us a few times.
01:07 As an opposition player, what were your thoughts about the way that we play football?
01:12 To be honest, everyone wanted to avoid you last season as a team. Unfortunately, we were the team that got you in the Champions League.
01:26 We knew it was going to be hard. It was just unbelievable the way they play at home and the atmosphere. Also, the calmness on the ball.
01:39 It was just a different level. I said a couple of times that you guys deserve it and I'm happy for you.
01:47 I presume as well, another bonus about signing for City is that you no longer have to play against Erling Haaland.
01:53 What's it like to try and stop him from scoring goals?
01:57 We all know what he has done last season. Congratulations to Erling. It's nice to have him on the side.
02:09 Last season and the season before in the Bundesliga, he was a tough player. Strong, fast, everything.
02:18 He has everything to become one of the best in the world. Luckily, I'm on his side now and I don't have to take care of him anymore.
02:31 When you go out on the pitch, it looks as if you fear nobody. That fearlessness, is that something that you're born with and is natural to you?
02:41 I would say it's just natural. Something inside of me that makes me in one way different.
02:50 The good thing is that I'm not thinking about anything else when I'm on the pitch. I'm just focused on what I'm doing the best and that's just me.
03:00 You mentioned earlier that we've signed Kovacic, another Croatian. Have you spoken to him about this move?
03:06 Not really because I don't need anyone to tell me that this club is...
03:18 Everyone knows and everyone wants to be part of this club. Once you have an opportunity, I believe that everyone is going to take it.
03:28 It was my decision but also a week ago I spoke with Kovacic about the team and everything. He said that he really likes it and that for sure we're going to enjoy it here.
03:41 Kovacic looked excellent during the pre-season games we played in Asia. He barely gave the ball away. What can City fans expect from him as somebody who knows him well and has played with him a lot?
03:53 First of all, he's a really nice guy and he's always here to help you. Also on the pitch, he's a fantastic player with amazing control.
04:07 I would say he's one of the fastest players with the ball and of course the one who's going to give his best no matter if we are winning or losing. He's the one who's going to give everything on the pitch.
04:25 You were absolutely brilliant at the Qatar World Cup last year. That tournament, I presume, will always be very special to you.
04:32 It was my first World Cup and I'm going to remember it my whole life. It was just something unbelievable.
04:43 At the beginning, no-one expected that we could go until the end. It's just the team we have in the national team. I would say it's similar to the team here. Everyone is giving 100% and we're sticking together all the time. That's the key.
05:05 You mentioned before about Pep Guardiola. We think he's the best coach in the world. How big a part of your decision to come here was the fact that you get to play under him and get coached by him and his backroom team?
05:17 I'm the guy who likes the challenges and I like to experience something new in my career. Definitely, I want to be coached by the best manager in the world and of course to learn something new, to improve myself as a player and of course as a person.
05:40 Pep's team likes to keep the ball. It's all about possession and control. The way that you play the game, I think that's a nice fit, isn't it? Is that another reason you've come here because you feel like stylistically it fits with your game?
05:54 I agree with you. It's the style I like and it's good that this is the way you play. Definitely, the possession with the ball and of course every team wants to have the possession but sometimes it's just hard.
06:11 That's one of the reasons why I'm here at the moment and of course I hope that this style of play fits for me.
06:24 I know that when you were younger you worked on your father's fish stall and I know he's very, very proud of the career that you've had but how proud are you of him and what he's given you to get you to this point today?
06:38 I believe that my parents are proud of me and I'm proud of my family because they're still behind me and holding my back and being here for me whenever I need them.
06:57 This is all for them and I believe they're enjoying it now in Croatia and hopefully they're going to visit me soon for one game.
07:07 You spent 12 or 13 years at Dinamo Zagreb, which is a club in Croatia that produces fantastic footballers. There's an amazing list of alumni that have come out of there.
07:18 How valuable was your time there and what principles did they install into you that you still carry today?
07:25 I spent 12 years. I don't even know but something like that. I'm really, really grateful to the club there because we know their qualities.
07:41 No one understands how it's possible that every year there are some new talents, some new big players' names. It's a big secret in there. I'm happy that at one time I was a part of that club and who knows, maybe one day I'll come back there.
08:04 You moved to RB Leipzig, which was a big step up. I believe you've also had offers previous to that to come to the Premier League but you decided to wait until the time was right.
08:15 Now that you're here, what are you expecting from the football in this country?
08:20 I expect a tough league, normally. Big names, big players. Of course, I'm here to achieve a lot of things with this team and to win as much as possible.
08:39 I can't wait to join the team and learn from the best. I have to say that I'm going to be surrounded by world-class players and it's a pleasure to be here.
08:51 Your medical is done, you've signed the contract. What's your target now for the next two, three weeks? How do you get yourself embedded in this squad?
09:00 I can't wait, as I said. I can't wait to start the training, to meet the rest of the teammates and friends. Of course, I'm going to need some time to come into the training.
09:17 It won't take long, I hope so. The season starts soon so I have to be ready.
09:24 What do you know about life in Manchester? Are you excited to discover this city and to learn a little bit about it and to go out and enjoy the nightlife and restaurants?
09:34 I haven't heard a lot about the city but I believe I'm going to have enough time to enjoy the city with Mateo and the rest of the guys.
09:45 City are now going for four Premier League titles in a row. That's never been done in the history of English football. What that means is that every club is going to want to stop us.
09:54 How difficult is that going to be and what kind of qualities do we need as a squad to make sure that we stay at the top and we keep winning?
10:02 If you talk about how hard it's going to be, I believe that every game is hard here. Every day is a new challenge, every day is a new opportunity to win something, to achieve something.
10:14 I believe for these guys out there, it's not going to be that hard. They know their qualities and they are full of confidence. I believe in them and hopefully we're going to win.
10:26 Fantastic. Well, thank you very much. Congratulations on the move and good luck with your first season here.
10:32 Thank you.
