00:21in the field. We've trusted our skill in the past and we know it's not a lack of skill or

00:26effort. It's just one of those nights and you know cricket can be tough like that. You can really
00:30underperform one night and then the next game can be a blinder in the field. So yeah we know we've
00:35got to move on from that and yeah we're really confident going into the next game. As a younger
00:41player in the group how have you enjoyed this tour, this World Cup tour of England and yeah from a
00:47personal point of view what are your kind of goals to help the team in their title defence? Yeah really
00:53enjoying England. I think they support cricket really well especially women's cricket so it's
00:59exciting to have a World Cup here and yeah personally I'm loving being up the top and trying to set

01:04aggressive tone for the team and you know having the likes of Sophie coming in after me it allows
01:08me to have that freedom at the top so it's an exciting role for me. And the fact that you
01:12guys stay
01:13here for quite a bit of the tournament you know waking up in the same bed every morning how good

01:18that I suppose just to kind of get that rhythm once you guys do find your feet here you can
01:22kind of
01:22push on as the tournament goes on? Yeah definitely it's nice to not move around as much and
01:27it allows you to rest and reset in between games a little bit more and we get to understand the
01:31conditions here which is really nice. And just a bit on opening can you talk a little about your
01:39sort of journey to becoming an opener and also how Susie Bates has helped you in your journey up
01:45there? Yeah obviously used to bat around that seven role which is I guess a similar role and you're
01:50wanting to be aggressive and you've you know you've got less balls then but it's the same style for me
01:55probably had a bit of a push from one of the batting coaches which was nice to see that that
02:00future in that role for me and seeing the likes of Susie up there it was really inspiring so I've
02:06really learned a lot from her and yeah loving the role so. And I believe you made your debut at
02:12the
02:12Commonwealth Games in 2022 so just a little bit on how the crowds have been and if that brings out
02:19the
02:19best in your game. Yeah definitely I vividly remember the semi and the other bronze medal
02:25match and it was almost a sellout which was you know really special for a first tournament for me
02:32with the White Ferns and yeah knowing coming along here that we're going to get good crowds at the
02:37likes of the Oval and even a great crowd here it's great support and lots of Kiwis in the crowd

02:56it's been a big tournament for them do you have any friends from the Netherlands squad or did you have
03:02any conversations with them because it's a big deal for them to be playing this World Cup? Yeah I don't
03:07have much connection unfortunately because was born there but only lived about 18 months there but I
03:12definitely would love to connect with the team and it's so cool to see them at the World Cup and
03:17they've got some really talented players coming through so hopefully get to see them in a few more

03:36some quality bowlers so we've really had a focus in the nets today with a few actions and how we
03:41can attack their their bowling attack and then obviously Chamari Adaparu is dangerous with the
03:46bat so we've got to you know take every game as its own but yeah we've got to you know
03:53get up for
03:54the occasion and yeah we've got some some key players to keep an eye on tomorrow. Yeah you mentioned
04:00before how you moved on quickly from that opening game I guess how important is that mentality in a
04:05tournament like this and as you said taking it game by game? Yeah a hundred percent we've got
04:11four more games to go and if we win all those we've got a great shot at the semis so
04:14it's one you gotta you gotta park it and move on and yeah get up in the next game and
04:20then after
