00:04 Today we're talking about the new Match Day experience,
00:06 and I'm here with Fab and Adriano
00:08 from the development team at EA.
00:10 Welcome, guys.
00:11 - Thanks for having us.
00:12 - Happy to be here.
00:13 There are a ton of new features coming,
00:16 so let's just jump into some of the major upgrades,
00:19 starting with the new Frostbite engine.
00:22 - Yeah, our goal was to make FC24
00:24 really the most immersive and realistic title
00:27 we've ever launched.
00:28 And really, with the improvements to Frostbite,
00:31 it's allowed us to bring our players
00:33 and atmosphere and stadiums to life,
00:35 and really trying to represent the game
00:38 as authentically as we possibly can.
00:40 - Yeah, so what that kind of means
00:42 is looking at the fundamentals,
00:43 like how can we make the pitch feel as real as possible?
00:46 How can we make kits look and feel and react to bodies
00:50 as they do in real life?
00:52 And I understand one of the big changes here
00:54 is the new player models.
00:56 - Absolutely.
00:57 So these new models are a perfect example
00:59 of how the evolving Frostbite engine
01:01 can make the playing experience more immersive.
01:03 - We just wanted to add as much detail
01:05 to the players as we can.
01:08 - You know, because we all know
01:09 every footballer is different,
01:10 and we want to capture those differences.
01:12 So whether it be a Sam Kerr or Holland,
01:15 or, you know, Peter Crouch's lanky frame.
01:18 - Using his head in more ways than one!
01:21 - It looks incredible,
01:23 and it just looks like the fabric is completely leveled up.
01:26 Is that something that was a focus
01:27 and a big thing coming to FC24?
01:30 - Yeah, we completely revamped our cloth system.
01:34 What's really cool is how the cloth deforms and wrinkles.
01:37 It really maintains that athletic form underneath,
01:40 and just really adds to the overall athleticism
01:43 of our players.
01:44 - It seems like the lighting as well
01:47 has also really leveled up this year.
01:50 - Yeah, absolutely.
01:51 Another technology that Frostbite has allowed us
01:54 is something that we're calling feature lighting.
01:56 So this year you'll notice there's more contrast.
01:59 The players will just pop more from the background,
02:02 making it feel more cinematic with more depth to the frame.
02:05 It's gonna make every moment and every match
02:08 look better than it ever has.
02:10 - Well, speaking of every match,
02:12 let's move to the match day experience,
02:15 which I know has a few fresh features this year.
02:18 What should we expect when we load up a game?
02:21 - So if you watch football,
02:22 you know how broadcasters are constantly
02:24 bringing more excitement and intrigue
02:25 to all the moments around the match itself.
02:28 - Yep, for example,
02:29 we really wanted to use our augmented reality technology
02:32 to highlight key stats of the match
02:35 or inform our players in understanding elements of the game.
02:39 - Yeah, this is one of my favorite features
02:41 because it lets you relive the action
02:43 while also giving context and data about what you just did.
02:46 One example is actually displaying your team's stamina.
02:49 So we can actually help them inform,
02:51 making substitutions.
02:53 On top of that, we're also showing possession,
02:56 passes completed, as well as shots on target.
02:59 - The atmosphere is building up already.
03:01 (crowd cheering)
03:04 - And there are actually a bunch of new visual experiences.
03:12 We're introducing snappier dynamic match intros
03:15 that are mode specific,
03:17 and they get you into the action quickly
03:19 while still setting the stage
03:20 and reminding you what you're playing for.
03:23 - Yeah, absolutely.
03:24 And with match day menus,
03:25 whether it's in the intro at halftime or at full time,
03:28 we're able to bring players to locker rooms,
03:30 commentator gantry, tunnels within the stadium,
03:33 even on the pitch with subs,
03:35 and it's gonna make their match day experience
03:36 feel all that more immersive.
03:38 - One thing I wanna point out
03:39 as we're seeing all of this is a new gameplay camera,
03:42 and it feels like the community
03:45 is actually really going to like this addition.
03:47 - Yeah, good eye.
03:48 So that's one thing we are adding in FC24.
03:50 So we've taken kind of inspiration
03:52 from some of the most popular cameras in our communities,
03:54 and we've tried to blend that tactical view
03:56 with something that was also immersive and entertaining.
03:59 On top of that,
04:00 we have a brand new referee point of view camera
04:02 that you'll see before some free kicks
04:04 and even during some yellow cards and red cards,
04:06 and it's gonna give you a brand new perspective
04:08 from the pitch.
04:09 - I also heard that we finally get to see
04:12 the commentators broadcasting the game.
04:14 And in particular, do we spy some new faces here?
04:18 - We are super excited with a new commentary duel
04:21 that we're welcoming to FC24,
04:23 starting with English commentator Guy Mulbray
04:26 and former English international Sue Smith.
04:29 - Could be something on.
04:30 And there's the opener.
04:31 The all important first goal of the game.
04:34 - Absolutely smashes it past the keeper.
04:36 And you have to say it was a good finish.
04:38 - All right, with the new commentary team,
04:40 excited to hear how they recap a goal,
04:42 but also so excited to hit these new celebrations.
04:45 You know, we all know it'll be really hard
04:46 to compete with the gritty,
04:47 but we've got some new Inspired by Real World celebrations
04:50 that I really think people are gonna love.
04:52 - Yeah, and it's not just goal celebrations.
04:54 We also wanted to focus in on key moments during the play.
04:57 For instance, like a big save or a key block
05:00 where you actually see their teammates rush them
05:03 and celebrate with them,
05:04 creating these cool moments during the action.
05:07 - I appreciate you both taking the time to walk through
05:10 all of these visual improvements coming to FC24,
05:13 from the new revolutionized Frostbite engine
05:15 to the revamped Match Day experience.
05:18 And of course, all of these new ways
05:20 that we will be celebrating those 90th minute winners.
