Adaptive Cruise Control Becomes Standard Equipment, New Audi Q3 SUV 2024

Starting at $38,195

The cheapest SUV in the Audi lineup, the 2024 Q3 offers a small glimpse into the trademark design ethos that populates the entire Audi lineup. Indeed, its exterior shape looks like a seven-tenth version of its Q5 sibling, and that trait extends to the interior, build quality and driving personality. All-wheel drive is standard, as is adaptive cruise control; It complements the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a host of driver aids, keeping the Q3 competitive in its tech division class.

The biggest news for 2024 is the inclusion of Adaptive Cruise Control (adaptive cruise control) as standard equipment. Buyers who choose the convenience package will notice that the Homelink functionality (a garage door opener that can turn on lights) is now integrated into the rearview mirror and wireless phone charging is also available. In the cladding department, Ibis White has been replaced by Arkona White, Tango Red metallic has been replaced by Progressive Red metallic and Turbo Blue from the palette.

The 2024 Q3 comes with one turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder tuned in two powers: it produces 181 horsepower and 221 foot-pounds of torque in the Q3 40 and 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet in the Q3 45. It gives automatic shuttle output to all four wheels via the standard quattro all-wheel drive system. Steering, though direct, is noticeably light. The suspension was tuned for comfort rather than performance.

Bigger, made from better materials and with updated technology and more intuitive controls, it has a much better driving position and greater front seat comfort, thanks in part to eight-way power adjustment and lumbar support for the driver. Combined with the standard panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery and heated front seats, the Q3 finally feels worthy of the four-ring logo. Buyers who still want to be pampered can order ambient interior lighting, an all-digital instrument cluster, and contrasting micro-suede on the dashboard and doors, for an additional fee.

Audi equips most Q3 models with an 8.8-inch touchscreen MMI infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen with the same content is also available. We found the interface attractive and mostly easy to use, thanks to its large icons and haptic feedback. But its low position on the dashboard can be a distraction. Top choices include SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and a 15-speaker, 680-watt Sonos stereo system.
