00:11 Our top story today is a follow up on the sign that rocked the foundations of the wrestling

00:24 That's the one we're talking about.

00:26 The Mario is better than Sonic.

00:27 Yes, while this is far from an outlandish thing to see a fan hold above their heads

00:31 on a sign, the focus that AEW's production gave to it, whether intentional or not, seemed

00:36 extremely pertinent.

00:37 They'll show this prominently on TV, but they'll shy away from the stuff about which

00:41 Final Fantasy game is the best one, won't they?

00:43 The cowards.

00:44 See, once again we had another short, unfortunately meaningless, token women's match on Dynamite

00:49 in the second hour this week.

00:50 One that's reasoned for happening was basically Taya Valkyrie saying "hey, Britt Baker,

00:55 you're one on Dynamite, and I'm one on Collision.

00:59 That's fine."

01:00 Excellent creative.

01:01 Sadly, the match itself also wasn't exactly a showstopper, with Tyrone Baker seemingly

01:05 struggling to gel.

01:07 And unfortunately, it represents something much bigger.

01:12 The lack of care and attention put into AEW's women's division is now evident every single

01:16 week, because every week you don't really see any story development, no lengthier matches,

01:20 and heck, you're not even seeing your AEW Women's Champion.

01:23 Where in the world is Toni Storm?

01:25 What has happened to the whole Outcast vs. Original storyline?

01:28 Well that lack of regard seems to have irked one prominent member of the locker room and

01:31 one directly involved in said storyline as Sarraya curiously left a like on a rather

01:35 scathing tweet, criticising the disregard of AEW's booking and use of women in prominent

01:40 spots.

01:41 The tweet read "Kinda feels like the Outcast story was a big waste of time.

01:45 Obviously there's no controlling the hater injury, but we didn't get blood and guts

01:49 out of it.

01:50 The whole surrounding division paused and it feels like very little was accomplished

01:53 broadly in the first half of the year."

01:56 And that's all very good points, because that feud would have been perfect for blood

01:59 and guts.

02:00 Interestingly, whether intended or not, an important player in WWE may have taken the

02:04 opportunity to have a slight pop at the competition as well.

02:08 Because speaking on the NXT Great American Bash media call, Shawn Michaels was asked

02:12 about the potential introduction of a mid-card championship for the women's division, in

02:16 which he replied saying "Whether you have one, two, or ten championships, you are going

02:21 to see our women littered throughout our show because it's such a deep, deep division."

02:26 Littered throughout the show, huh?

02:28 Not just one per show.

02:30 Take notes TK.

02:31 While Tony hopefully will have his hands full actually booking the women's division very

02:34 soon, he better also get to announcing some matches for All In too, because he knows it's

02:38 about a month away, right?

02:40 It comes before All Out.

02:43 You put your All In, and then you put your All Out.

02:46 It's the hokey-cokey.

02:47 While TK has already booked his first All Out match, with Darby Allin looking set to

02:51 take on TNT Champion Luchasaurus, or Christian, I guess, we may now have our first actual

02:58 marquee bout for All In at Wembley.

03:00 And even better, it involves a hometown boy, Will Ospreay.

03:04 Because you see where I'm going, it's of course not Ospreay vs Omega 3.

03:10 Who would want that?

03:11 Instead, it seems according to Fightful Select that we'll be getting Ospreay vs Christopher

03:15 Jericho.

03:16 It seems to tie into the whole Don Callis/Chris Jericho angle that's been playing out on TV

03:20 lately with Callis obviously aligning himself with Ospreay recently at Forbidden Door.

03:24 So perhaps this allegiance will collapse and lead to Jericho vs Ospreay, or something else

03:29 will go down.

03:30 Either way, I, like many others, am sad.

03:33 It seemed Omega Ospreay 3 was a nailed on main event for All In for months, and as much

03:37 as Jericho and Ospreay will surely put on a great clash of generations, the news is

03:40 it's a damn squib.

03:43 A dark day in the history of Britain.

03:45 We have many dark days in Britain, it's barely ever sunny here, look at me, I'm

03:49 so pale and that's because the sun never comes out.

03:52 I guess all we can do is tune in and hope for something just as good as Omega vs Ospreay.

03:57 If that exists.

03:58 Before we crack on with the wrestling news, it's Friday and you know what that means,

04:28 Now, ever since Vince McMahon returned to loom over WWE creative there seems to have

04:31 been certain talent that have just disappeared or had plans seemingly cut from underneath

04:37 them.

04:38 JD McDonough's Judgment Day arrival seems dead, Cameron Grimes has wrestled one TV match

04:42 in two months and perhaps most notably an entire faction, The Way, have had their reunion

04:47 sadly cut short before it even began.

04:49 While plans seem to be suggesting The Way, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Indi Hartwell

04:53 and Dexter Lumis were set for something on the main roster, there's now just been radio

04:58 silence for a while.

05:01 Following Indi Hartwell's drafting to Raw we got a single backstage segment on May 8th

05:04 that seemed to tease the return of Tommaso Ciampa to get involved with the fun as well.

05:09 And then just nothing happened until Hartwell and LeRae appeared for like two minutes in

05:14 that Tag Team Gauntlet match on July 3rd's Raw.

05:16 I bet Indi's really glad she gave up the NXT Women's Championship.

05:23 While Gargano's injury status may have initially affected plans, Mr Wrestling has reportedly

05:26 been healthy for a while now.

05:28 So what gives?

05:29 A new report from Fightful Select may give us some indication as they report that one

05:33 member of the crew, Dexter Lumis, is absent not for any health related reasons but instead

05:38 due to waiting on creative from the company.

05:41 While this just relates to Lumis specifically, we can likely factor the rest of The Way into

05:45 this as well, especially given that Ciampa is already back on TV mixing it up with Big

05:49 Bronson Reed and Shinsuke Nakamura.

05:52 So clearly if you're not asked in theory there's no way Vince is going to book you.

05:58 Because theory was in the way.

06:00 Anyway, hopefully this all changes and they all get involved on TV again soon.

06:06 When Triple H took over creative reigns a whole year ago, where on Earth is a time going

06:18 rapidly approaching death, one of his reported mission statements was to revamp the company's

06:22 Premium Live Events, aka get rid of all the crappy gimmick ones.

06:25 While Trips has thus far achieved a lot of that with no more Hell in a Cell, TLC and

06:29 Extreme Rules on our Premium Live Event platter, I think many of us might have hoped for the

06:33 return of some old school beloved PPV names like Armageddon, Unforgiven, Judgement Day,

06:39 I mean, I guess that one's understandable.

06:42 But yeah, instead we've got Fastlane, Payback, which is a lot better.

06:52 Well it turns out if you want that itch scratched all you have to do is tune in to NXT on Tuesday

06:55 nights as they've seen the return of Vengeance Day, Battleground and the upcoming Great American

07:00 Bash this Sunday.

07:01 However they may be set to be joined by yet another staple of the 2000s very soon, as

07:05 soon as September even, that being the potential for No Mercy, not just the greatest wrestling

07:11 game of all time.

07:12 According to Fightful Select, local advertisements have been spotted in Bakersfield, California

07:16 for No Mercy, with the event looking set for September 30th, which let me check on my watch

07:21 that does the wrestling calendar.

07:22 No AEW PPVs then?

07:24 You're all good.

07:25 You're all good, Shawn.

07:26 While I'd love to see events such as these appear on the main roster, it's great to

07:30 see another old favourite get a return on NXT.

07:45 Speaking of NXT, that brand sure has been seeing a lot of crossovers lately, hasn't

07:50 Loads of main roster faces have basically been turning up on Tuesdays, adding even more

07:53 confusion as to who's meant to be where, who's doing what, judgement days on Raw,

07:57 judgement days on NXT, judgement days on Smackdown.

07:59 Who actually knows what the rosters are anymore?

08:01 While the brand split has been shown about the same amount of respect as Dirty Dom shows

08:05 his deadbeat dad, there may in fact be change afoot for one Raw star very soon.

08:09 That star being Odyssey Jones, who you'd be forgiven for not knowing that he'd even

08:12 left NXT, because his Odyssey to Raw has been a lot like Odyssey's and that it's gone

08:17 on for f***ing ages.

08:18 And he's not been seen a single time on Raw since being drafted in May.

08:22 It seems as if WWE may have drafted Jones without really much thought, as according

08:26 to BWE he is set to re-debut on Smackdown soon.

08:30 Jones did in fact work a dark match on the July 14th Smackdown, losing to Cameron Grimes,

08:34 so this may be likely to happen.

08:36 Just get the poor guy on TV will you?

08:39 I know Dom's a draw, but does he need to be on every single show?

08:42 Yes he does.

08:43 He's my favourite thing in wrestling.

08:45 I love his little mullet-y face.

08:47 Sticking with stars who haven't been on TV very much recently, the Street Profits

08:49 have surprisingly featured very little after being drafted to Smackdown in May.

08:54 While that meeting with Bobby Lashley and his swanky old limo may be set to change that,

08:57 perhaps a change in character could also be on the way too.

09:00 Speaking to Adam Silverstein on the Getting Over podcast, both Angelo Dawkins and Montez

09:04 Ford expressed their desire for a change.

09:07 A change that includes a whole lot more edge.

09:10 Not edge-edge, like edginess.

09:14 Acting all mean and that.

09:16 Ooh, edgy.

09:17 Ford said that there is huge room for a demeanour change, citing the duo's major losses such

09:22 as last year's Summerslam to the Usos, leading to a feeling of frustration, upset and a need

09:27 for change.

09:28 Dawkins then continued, echoing Ford's feelings of frustration with their defeats,

09:32 saying, "It's just like, all right now, look, I'm sick and I'm tired of waiting.

09:37 I'm sick and tired of having to go through all these hoops to get to where the goal is

09:40 to be the champions."

09:41 While fans perhaps expected a bit of a split for the Profits for a while, the pair didn't

09:45 seem too keen on that idea, so a heel turn would likely be the best scenario for all

09:49 and provide them a nice, well needed refresh.

09:52 Perhaps this new Lashley Hurt Business 2.0 may be the answer.

09:56 However, thus far he's only been chatting to babyfaces like the Profits and Carmelo

09:59 Hayes and Trick Williams, so who knows.

10:01 Just don't forget about your boys, Benjamin and Cedric Alexander.

10:06 Speaking of being cool, a certain Attitude Era star was spotted backstage in AEW this

10:12 weekend and some would say this individual is almost too cool.

10:17 In a surprising turn of events, it seems as if old favourite Scotty Too Hotty was in fact

10:20 backstage in AEW, reportedly trying out for a role as producer and coach on a trial basis

10:26 that comes according to Fightful Select.

10:28 The former two-time WWE Tag Team Champion has remained very active on the independent

10:31 scene in recent years, undergoing a career resurgence after many years of inactivity.

10:36 While it's currently unclear whether Scotty will in fact be kept on in the role, there

10:40 is recent precedent for this as Fightful Select also confirmed that Chris Hero, formerly Cassius

10:45 Ohno on NXT, has been officially hired by AEW in a producer role.

10:49 It had been previously reported that Hero too was on a trial with the company, but now

10:53 it seems he has officially joined on a full-time basis.

10:55 We'll just have to wait and see if Tony Khan can convince him to return to the ring.

10:59 We're getting Jerry Lynn vs Jack Perry, so why not Chris Hero next?
