00:00 Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and thank you for attending our official opening of our
00:06 Gloucestershire Who's Who gallery, a project that we've been working on now for probably the best
00:13 part of two years. Following on from the theme of Dick Whittington we felt that it was appropriate
00:19 that we actually identify people from Gloucestershire who have done something quite
00:25 extraordinary at some stage. We've got current people such as J.K Rowling, we've got the much
00:34 older characters who you will see on the different boards going around. To put the boards together
00:43 we firstly needed to get the right up and we asked for Gloucester Civic Trust to help and Chrissie
00:52 Morgan came forward and has been responsible for all the write-ups of all the different characters
01:00 that we have. We needed to get some pictorial imagery and I asked my good friend Andy Keanock
01:09 of Black Ark of Cheltenham to do that and he has come up with all the design of the characters and
01:16 so forth and then of course we needed to put it all together in a format that was presentable
01:23 and that's where Vicky Gaulden came in and she's helped us on many occasions with a lot of the
01:30 work that we've done within the centre. We've now got something in excess of 40 boards in here
01:37 and in the main play barn itself and you're very welcome please have a look around, read up about
01:44 these characters, some of them you'll never have heard of but they have done the most extraordinary
01:50 things and for one example and one of my favourites is an individual called Button Gwinnett who's just
01:58 inside the play barn. The man ended up born near Gloucester, second signatory on the American bill
02:08 next to George Washington. That is just extraordinary to me. We've also got the man
02:14 who was involved with the American national anthem
02:19 so I'd now like to ask Chrissie if she would officially now cut the tape.
02:25 [Applause]
