00:00 DOST is cooking a project to make the students of Pinoy healthier.
00:06 Recesses full of nutrients.
00:09 But will it pass the taste test of the kids?
00:12 They themselves did a taste test during the teaching of Lei Alvey.
00:16 DOST Food and Nutrition Research Institute unboxed one by one
00:24 their new food products for recesses that are leveled up in terms of nutrients and taste.
00:29 First on the menu is the enhanced Nutriban
00:31 which has different variants, squash, carrots, and sweet potato.
00:35 The kids are growing up with the old Nutriban
00:38 so they made it smaller but still in line with protein, iron, and vitamin A.
00:43 Since the kids are the target market of the products, we made them taste test it.
00:49 It's delicious and sweet. It's not too salty.
00:53 Next on the menu is the smaller Nutriban, the Nutribanet
00:57 which has malunggay, squash, and peanut filling.
01:00 It's delicious and sweet. It's salty.
01:05 Can the kids pass the taste test of recesses?
01:08 The vitamin-rich juice developed by DOST is called Nutri Calamansi.
01:13 It tastes like calamansi. It's a bit sweet.
01:20 To avoid fatigue, there are other options
01:22 like protein and energy source Nutri Cookies made with plant-based ingredients.
01:27 There's also Coco Dairy Milk, the milk that is more nutritious than the coconut milk.
01:33 It's not just about the food, but the right food.
01:38 The types of nutrients that are actually lacking in the diet of Filipino children must be addressed.
01:45 These are a big help for the nutrition of the kids.
01:49 Especially, the lack of vitamin A in every 10 Filipino school children
01:53 is based on the data of DOST-FNRI since before the COVID pandemic.
01:58 One in every three kids is stunted or lacking in their studies.
02:02 DOST-FNRI is passing the food technology free to the manufacturers.
02:08 They will buy DepEd, DSWD, and LGU to distribute these to schools and other facilities.
02:16 These products can be available in schools in the upcoming school year.
