Trump's Georgia Probe Intensifies

Two grand juries are being impaneled in Atlanta to decide whether to bring criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and his allies for their efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. The investigation was launched by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in 2021 after a recording was made public of a phone call in which Trump asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" enough votes to overturn his election loss in the state. The special-purpose grand jury that investigated the case heard from 75 witnesses and issued a report in January that recommended charges for multiple people. However, the report remains sealed to protect the rights of "potential future defendants." To bring criminal charges, Willis and her team must present their case to a regular grand jury, such as the two being seated on Tuesday. The two grand juries are expected to hear hundreds of indictments, but it is unclear which one could hear the election case.
