The Far Cry – The Far Cry Rock, Blues Rock, Psychedelic Rock, 1968
  • 10 months ago
US psychedelic rock group from Boston, MA.
Formed in early 1968 at Harvard, MA, by some hippies students which gravitated around the local prestigious university. After various gigs in the northern area of East Coast they signed to a new label in NYC – Vanguard/Apostolic, an off-shoot of Vanguard. The band went into Apostolic Studios on East 10th St for about 10 days and recorded their one album in 1968. Unfortunately their debut did sell poorly and in June 1970 the group amicably disbanded.
The music is a very energetic psych jazz rock with large parts improvisational and experimental. Really an underrated band.
