Listen to the never-before-heard ‘solar song’ of the Northern Lights

A Nasa-funded project has released the real ‘sound’ of Earth’s magnetic environment, including the northern and southern lights.
Nasa was able to record the sound of solar plasma striking Earth, which causes the magnetic field lines and plasma around Earth to vibrate.
It is usually too low a frequency for the human ear to pick up.
However, thanks to an ‘audification’ process, a team has been able to allow us to hear the ‘solar sounds’ for the first time.
Nasa’s Heliophysics Audified: Resonances in Plasmas (HARP) project, which released the recording, studies the auroras borealis and australis.
