00:00 The collaboration between Illy Cafè and Cartel continues in the circle economy.
00:09 The Hyperspresso capsules of Illy have proven to be a valuable resource,
00:14 whose recycling has given life to two collections of design seats,
00:18 exhibited at the Illy flagship store in Via Montenapoleone,
00:21 on the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2023.
00:24 The first is Re-chair, designed by architect and designer Antonio Citterio.
00:29 The second is Eleganza, designed by Philippe Starck.
00:33 Last year, during the Design Week, we announced this partnership with Cartel,
00:39 because we are two companies of Made in Italy, Illy Cafè on one side, Cartel on the other,
00:44 that strongly believe in quality, beauty, design and sustainability.
00:49 The two excellences of Made in Italy are the principles on which they base their business,
00:55 quality, beauty and sustainability.
00:58 The latter is a real polar star for Cartel.
01:02 Cartel has been working for many years on sustainability.
01:05 We have our manifesto called "Cartel loves the planet"
01:09 and one of the focal points of our materials is recyclability and recycling.
01:15 So, with this rabbit, we have been trying for years to try to recycle their capsules to make a chair.
01:22 Finally, last year, with a design by Antonio Citterio, we made the first Re-chair chair,
01:28 which is 100% recycled from Illy capsules.
01:32 After the first experiment last year, this year we managed to make a second one
01:36 and we hope to continue on our collection.
01:39 We present Eleganza, which is a chair with Illy's hyper-express capsule legs,
01:47 designed and made by Philippe Starck.
01:49 The use of recycled materials also means to redefine our aesthetic perception of objects.
01:55 To look at the new design frontiers, it will be essential to know how to balance
02:00 the technical needs related to materials, their behavior and recyclability
02:05 with the design and aesthetics of the product.
02:08 This is a project that starts on the concept of sustainability,
02:14 and for years we have been dealing with the issue of material recycling.
02:20 Thinking about material recycling is also a way of thinking about the end of life of the product,
02:28 that is, what happens when, after 20 or 30 years, the product has finished its role.
02:36 This is one of the great themes in the world of production, in fashion, in design,
02:45 and in the world of products in general.
02:49 We are increasingly focusing on this theme.
02:53 Recycling means defining an aesthetically different perception
02:59 from what we had previously.
