00:02 I have a little glance on the mantelpiece
00:06 and see the trophy and feel like was a job well done.

00:14 It's so hard to win any rally now.
00:18 (upbeat music)
00:20 Even more at Dakar because there's so many fast guys.
00:25 (engines roaring)
00:27 And there's like so many factors involved to win.
00:30 You need to be really fast.
00:32 You need to navigate perfectly.
00:34 You need to have a really strong bike.
00:36 Really good team, well organized.
00:40 You need to prepare physically the best you can.
00:42 And then because you're physically stronger,
00:44 you're also mentally stronger
00:45 because you're not suffering as much.
00:47 I won the first one in 17
00:50 and then it took me five years to win again.
00:52 So it's like a huge package that you need to put together.
00:57 And then you can still not win, you know,
00:58 like it takes 10,000 kilometers to win one.
01:02 Then you can lose everything in five meters.
01:04 It's really not easy to put one finger
01:09 on what makes you win or not.
01:10 (crowd applauding)
01:13 It's always nice to come into a Dakar
01:17 off of a good successful championship.
01:24 The W2RC championship is the only preparation in some way,
01:27 you know, because we race similar terrains,
01:31 same format with the same riders.
01:33 So it's definitely the best one.
01:36 (crowd applauding)
01:38 Certainly me as a rider,
01:42 I've kind of developed a lot with experience
01:46 in terms of like trying not to force everything.
01:50 You can't race for 12 days
01:52 across all these crazy terrains
01:54 for 10, 12 hours a day and not have troubles.
01:58 Now I recognize that you can't force it.
