On 17 July 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 disintegrates in mid-air over Hrabove, Donetsk Oblast in Ukraine and crashes while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board. The subsequent investigation concluded that a Buk surface-to-air missile launched by pro-Russian rebels taking part in the War in Donbas caused the in-flight break-up.
