Wholesale Prices Rose 0.7% in January

The producer price index, a measure of what raw goods go for on the open market, rose 0.7 percent in January. Economists had been looking for an increase of 0.4 percent after a decline of 0.2 percent in December. Stock futures fell on Thursday following the news. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.49 percent; S&P futures fell 0.71 percent; and the Nasdaq fell 0.85 percent.
