04:30A groundhog rarely eats grass more than three and a half meters from its burrow.
04:34So, whenever she senses a predator, she can quickly escape to the safety of her burrow!

04:44Groundhogs are great diggers!
04:48See, the burrow is usually dug under a pile of rocks or tree roots.
04:52There's a drop-down right after the entrance, then a long tunnel that opens up to a chamber.

19:31And there's good reason for it groundhogs have to have their babies early in the spring just as the grass
19:37is growing
19:38So they can eat as much grass as possible and put on all that extra weight that they need for
19:43hibernation in the next winter
19:45Hey, the male groundhog is heading off again
19:51This must be where the groundhog day story comes from
19:55But actually the truth is the groundhog isn't checking the weather or watching for shadows
20:00He's looking for girl groundhogs sleeping in his territory
20:03So that's why male groundhogs come out earlier while it's still winter
