Mystery Babylon - William Branham Racist Theology

  • last year
One of the core doctrines fundamental to Christian Identity was centered upon the mystery described in the 17th chapter of the book of revelation. Though revelation does not explicitly name the city, it symbolically describes a “great city” that would make war with the Lamb. White supremacists were certain that the city described was Rome and that the influx of people with black skin was the preparation for the coming war.

Leaders in Branham’s cult of personality, such as Raymond Jackson, explained that this “Babylon” could be traced genetically back to Nimrod, and that this was why “we’re seeing a great breaking of the colored people today”.

George Hawtin, one of the founding members of the Sharon Orphanage credited for the origin of the Latter Rain Movement, was deeply involved in the spreading of the white supremacy version of William Branham’s “Mystery Babylon”. Hawton explained that the “hoards of colored people coming into the country” were a result of the “confusion” of Mystery Babylon.
