Edit for headphones. Source of this edit is the song on the album "Cosmic Wheels" (Epic – 477378 2). In 1973 an edited form of this song charted 66 in the US and 67 in Australia and became the last charting single Donovan has had to date, apart from a 1990 novelty cover of the single "Jennifer Juniper", released in Britain in 1990 by comedy duo Trevor and Simon as "The Singing Corner Meets Donovan". It spent one week at number 68 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1990.
I LIKE YOU
(Ralph E. Graham)
you're such a good friend
I'd hate to have you as an enemy
from the first time we met
I knew you were the one to set me free
you liked me
I liked you
you liked me
I liked you
holding my heart in the palm of your hand
headed out west for the Indian lands
dreams of the golden boy tangling your mind
burning your body to fill in the time
sad city sister on Avenue of Palm
I knew naively that I was your man
I followed after with heavy heart of lead
just like a man he who walks, yet is dead
I asked you to dance
and you wondered and you thought you might
so we went and took a chance
on the catwalk in the cold star light
I held you
you felt me
I touched you
you kissed me
holding my heart in the palm of your hand
headed out west for the Indian lands
dreams of the golden boy tangling your mind
drugs ate body to fill in the time
sad city sister on Avenue of Palm
I knew naively that I was your man
I followed after with heavy heart of lead
just like a man who walks, yet is dead
