Languedoc Roussillon : Crossing the Roads of History

Sure, the south of France is known for its singular beauty. But it’s also got thousands of years of histoire! Here in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the city of Nîmes’ past is evident in its ancient Roman amphitheater, once a popular venue for gladiator matches. A stroll through town reveals narrow cobbled streets, where Hercules himself is rumored to once have roamed. And just outside town, we’ll discover an abbey built in 804 A.D. and take a walk along the Canal du Midi, a world-famous destination for pleasure cruisers that connects the French Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean. You don’t need a time machine to explore the history of this region – just your trusty Francelator!
