The Chief Executive of Ericsson ($ERIC@Sweden) recently said that his company would not simply give up market share in China. The Swedish government caused major headaches for the telecom firm after banning Chinese phone suppliers from its 5G rollout, citing security concerns. Because China accounts for about 10% of Ericsson’s revenue, the company is struggling to find answers. CEO Borje Ekholm said, “we have been in China for 120 years, and I don’t intend to give up easily.” For its part, Chinese manufacturer Huawei has denied its devices pose a security risk to the end-user.
