The Greek Migration Minister released a statement on Wednesday highlighting the lack of preparedness in the EU for the potential influx of immigrants as the Afghan crisis continues to fester. Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi cited the migration crisis of 2015 and drew parallels to the current outflow of migrants being a similar scenario that the EU stands unfit to grapple with Taliban fighters and their continued advance into the Afghan province have led to augmented numbers of immigrants into the EU. Many EU member states have reiterated their concern over the capacity for intake on a heightened scale if the situation continues to deteriorate.
