00:00Right now, it's my second trip this year out after Porbeagle and after four missed chances
00:11of a hook up and a circle hook I've eventually hooked out one.
00:17If it's the same fish it's quite a big one.
00:24If it's the same fish he's over 200lb.
00:29It's a lovely fish.
00:40It's actually my sixth.
00:42He actually clocked it and then he missed it and he came back.
00:59Did you get any? Aye, I had one. I had six takes there.
01:13Six takes? Yeah.
01:15Let's see how my anchor boy is.
01:19He's out ahead of you out of the chum bag.
01:23I'm not sure, I have him on but there's one about 250 there.
01:27It might be him, I don't know.
01:31He came right up to the kayak and tried to grab the chum bag.
01:35I had one like a spinner dolphin on the surface giving it fucking a hard time.
01:41You want to see it out there, it's rough as fuck.
01:47I'm going to lose this fish to the tide.
01:57Big bloody waves up here.
02:27I'll be giving out a dooboo pollock for a bit.
02:37This fella was caught, this fella took a pollock.
02:41That's this fella gone.
02:49I'm going to have to slack it off and paddle up.
02:53There's my fish.
03:15It's not really standard power buoy.
03:17I'm getting the line going, paddling like thick.
03:21There's another one.
03:43Another one.
03:55Holla ma.
04:13There's another one.
04:33There's another one.
05:01There's another one.
05:29He's on to another pearl bagel here.
05:31Jesus.
05:35Went around my anchor twice before I could get away from him.
05:39He's a dirty bugger.
05:41He's on top high going around in circles.
05:45He missed all the drama of him around the anchor because he nearly spooled me.
05:53What a nightmare.
05:56Wasn't there.
06:00It's still very rough below.
06:02That's why this one's staying up in the bay.
06:12If I can get lucky and keep him up here, I'll be laughing.
06:19I don't think he's a huge one because he's very quick.
06:22He's a bugger.
06:28I had a blind guess I'm going to say he's about 150.
06:31But I don't know.
06:37I'm just saying by 150 weight how much of a bugger he is.
06:42He's a very fast, high fighting flyer.
06:52I'm about 15 minutes into this fight.
06:55Or less.
06:58My arms are wrecked.
07:02The rod is a Weston W3.
07:10He's on a Kuma Cedarus.
07:20Any chance of a tow?
07:24I'm waiting.
07:28Did you see where you were going?
07:31That's what I was going to say. Any chance of a tow?
07:34I knew you were going to say that.
07:36Somewhere that way.
07:38Have you got a rope?
07:40Kind of, yeah.
08:08I'm going to have to get closer.
08:26Come on in close for him.
08:28Just bump it off me, don't worry about it.
08:31Hopefully.
08:35You got him?
08:39He's open.
08:41That's it.
09:11Come up you bastard.
09:24He's hooked that way.
09:28It's nice and jiffy just that I can hold to this brick now, eh Paul?
09:34That's it.
09:36Straight up now if you can.
09:38I don't think we can do it, but he goes in.
09:49F***
09:53F***
09:55Just don't worry about it, you can put him in a little angle.
10:25Just get yourself sorted, get on.
10:53Are you alright?
11:00Thank you lads.
11:09I'm not going to let go of you there Graeme.
11:15Your VHS is back behind your buffet, you're going to lose it.
11:21See how much water they have in me before I let go?
11:24Nope, nope.
11:29We're making lids tonight.
11:31Just give me that.
11:35You ok?
11:36Yeah.
11:40Your VHS is still there, it's just to the f***ing outside of the buffet.
11:47Can you get it on camera too?
11:57I'm getting my coin to you.
12:01Here do you want to sort that out before you get into this?
12:04How am I getting it?
12:06I'm going to grab it, I can't do it.
12:10Just shove him up.
12:12Thanks lad.
12:13Alright.
12:15What a try.
12:25I think there's a lag in the weed here.
12:28Is there?
12:29I was wondering what was wrong.
12:35What?
12:37The rudder hanging off the back of Cat Mule.
12:43Here you stay there and I'll get up alongside you.
12:47Back, back, back.
12:52It looks this way.
12:56It just lifts up and drops in the back.
12:58Big wave coming.
13:01Do you want to get in and just f***ing throw the thing in?
13:04Into the quieter water Graeme?
13:06Yeah.
13:08What's the best way of tying the kayak on like so it doesn't, so it doesn't, it doesn't get out.
13:15You can drop it, see if you slot it in there and it'll probably only drop it in.
13:22And I'll do it the other way, twist it.
13:24That way, that's how you do it.
13:27That's better.
13:28Yeah.
13:34That's alright.
13:36That's good.
13:37I'll jump in.
13:40I know I'm a calm looking one.
13:44You need to move.
13:48Get the f*** out of here.
13:50Grab that cord.
13:51Yeah.
13:54You coming in or?
13:55Yeah.
13:56Yeah.
13:59Ready?
14:00Yeah.
14:03You alright?
14:05Hey mate, do you want to hold the kayak?
14:08Yeah.
14:09Grab it.
14:10Grab it.
14:11Grab it.
14:12Just slowly.
14:13Very slowly.
14:14You're not going to get it.
14:15Oh yeah.
14:16I'll try again.
14:20Right?
14:21Yeah.
14:23Slowly.
14:24That's it.
14:25Yeah.
14:27That's it.
14:30That's it.
14:33That's it.
14:36That's it.
14:39That's it.
14:42That's it.
14:45That's it.
14:48Thank you very much.
14:58Maybe we'll laugh our bullocks about it a bit.
15:08Remember the day that stupid prick fell in?
15:13How long you go?
15:14Yeah, that was Mike's fault.
15:15back of the kayak and pulling you straight from the back. That was going through my head
15:19but when the big waves were coming I was like go, go, keep moving. We could have slowly
15:25pulled you backwards. It would have been far better. The bigger them waves got, the bigger
15:33the brown stain on the trousers. Thank you gentlemen, not from the north. Get us away
15:49from here. We're going to go and hide. Here, where's that **** ass, come on now. They're
16:01counting casualties. Right yous lucky bastards going to catch a monster. I hope so. Hop a
16:08try around that bay, whatever the spot, whatever there is there, they definitely like it. God
16:19damn it. Well, we're past an hour, half an hour, everybody excited as ****. That's not
16:37supposed to be the best part of the day. No man. Well, I'm going to be under fire. Only
16:47for some bollocks turning me upside down, I probably would have too. Good luck lads.
16:54Well, that's that. Excitement over. Had a bagel. Took me down to the falls again. There
17:22was a waves are close by. See if they can give me a tow. They did, but the tide was
17:32too quick. I ended up in the falls. And then the card caught in the boat and flipped the
17:38kayak. Well, it ties to a big **** yard. Had to cut the line, unfortunately. Because the
17:47swell was mighty big. Too big. Too big for fish. So that's why you wear a dry suit.
17:55Any mishaps, there's no real drama. Fall off, we get back in again and we're dry and we
18:02can paddle home and comfort and dryness and we're not freezing to bits. That's why you
18:08don't wear a dry suit for any type of fishing on the kayak. This suit here is made by Ur-Suit.
18:21Fantastic company from Finland. Make the best dry suits on earth. They're absolutely made
18:32of top quality stuff. I'm obviously soaking now. But this one here was designed by myself
18:42and John Griffin from Urs Kayak Angling. Between us we have about at least 25 years kayak angling
18:51experience. And we got talking to Tony and Sully at the Swords Angling Show. We're mighty
19:01impressed by their dry suits on the stand. And while admiring them and some of the great
19:08innovations on them, we got talking about dry suits. And in particular, we'd love to
19:17see one made for kayak angling. And between us, we made one. This suit's made specifically
19:26for kayak angling in mind. All the high rub areas, inside the arms, the legs, that kind
19:34of stuff, there is all Dumbly Enforced material. Plus this is a Vortex material here. It's guaranteed.
19:46Makers not to de-lamity. It's fantastic. I have this suit now, this is my third year
19:52with this suit. And it's had all sorts of abuse. And there's still not a mark on it.
19:59It's doing really well. It's had a lot of heavy fishing and a lot of paddling.
20:07By mostly fishing the salt water. It hasn't had an easy life but it's still immaculate
20:15and going strong. And as you see when I get back to the car, there'll be bones right,
20:20and bones right inside after my little dip out there.
20:27But yeah, I have to head home early today. I'm working night shift tonight.
20:34But yeah, big thanks to Mike and Brian for giving me a hand. The whole plan there was
20:42we were going to get towed away from the worst of the falls when over the rocks but
20:49we got close to the tide which was far too quick. And the cord went under the crack and
20:55a bit of swell in short. The rest is history.
21:00Unfortunately I had to cut the line away from the Barbiga. It's the last thing I want to do but
21:06it has to be done at some point. Unfortunately this time it has to be done.
21:09But hey, that's unfortunate. He's on a fine rustable circle hook.
21:20Not one of them new to fine gauge ones.
21:34So it will not last long at all.
21:40So yeah, that was my day. Fun bit of crack. I'll get one up alongside the kayak the next day
21:51when the swell's a bit better hopefully.
21:54All right folks, thanks for listening to my rambling on. Thanks again to Brian and Mike.
22:00I'm going to have to concentrate and paddle along so I'll talk to you all again. Thanks for watching.
22:13And the three shoe, the great thing in this three shoe is the zip.
22:18Goes on here and that's good. It's a zippable neck so you just step into the front of the suit.
22:25You don't have to, you don't have to get in the back or anyone to help you. A little name
22:31frame flap on the zip so it doesn't pinch you and it doesn't rub when you're paddling.
22:36Also the zip goes right down below the groin area. So if you need to get out your car keys
22:46or a key, if you can, or they're wriggling around like a mad thing,
22:52you can get into your pockets or whatever.
