Hair is a 1979 US musical drama film, directed by Miloš Forman, based on the Broadway musical of the same name.

It was presented in 1979 out of competition at the 32nd Cannes Film Festival.

Plot - Claude is a young peasant from Oklahoma called to arms for the Vietnam War. Arriving in New York a few days before departure, he runs into a group of Hippies in Central Park consisting of Berger, Jeannie, Hud and Woof. Falling in love at first sight with the beautiful Sheila, daughter of rich and haughty parents, he is helped by her new friends to win her over. Under the guidance of Berger, Claude will approach the world of drugs and the philosophy of absolute freedom. Between dream travels and the growing sense of friendship, the young man sets off for training camp, leaving behind a new and fascinating world for him. The friends, determined to let him meet Sheila for the last time, head to the camp and Berger takes the place of his friend to allow him to stay a few hours with the woman he loves. In this short space of time, the camp is evacuated and the soldiers boarded a plane to depart for Vietnam. The pacifist Berger finds himself in spite of himself fighting a war in which he does not believe, while the young Claude manages to obtain his freedom. Berger will turn out to be one of the countless victims of the conflict.
