Alpha Continuum was created entirely synthetically; no samples of real musical instruments were used. The tuning is a Just, Limit-7 scale, that slowly modulates from one reference pitch to another throughout the piece, an idea gleaned from Ben Johnston's descriptions of his String Quartets #5 and #6 in his book Maximum Clarity.
