The ANC's move to appoint a Chinese national to replace the late Jackson Mthembu in Parliament has come as a suprise to many South Africans. Xiaomei Havard was sworn in on Wednesday, but her appointment was not warmly welcomed by some. Politicians and twitterati soon took to social media rejecting the Chinese national's appointment. Erwin Pon from the Chinese Association says the community did not anticipate the mass negative reaction it received. He says the country has been a home to Chinese people from as far back as the 14th century. Courtesy #DStv403
