The BCCI has decided to part ways with International Management Group (IMG), which has held the events rights of the IPL since its inception, a top Board official revealed on Friday. The 2021 edition is expected to be held in its usual window of March-April but it is not yet decided whether it will take place in India or overseas like the 2020 one. A mini auction before the IPL is expected to be held in February. The latest edition, which ran from September-November, was held in the UAE due to the COVID-19 pandemic in a bio-secure environment.
आईपीएल पर खतरा मंडरा रहा है. जी हाँ, आईपीएल के 14वें सीजन का एलान तो हो चुका है. पर भारत में ही टूर्नामेंट में होगा? इस पर कुछ कहा नहीं जा सकता है. चूँकि, कोरोना वायरस के नए स्ट्रेन ने उम्मीदों को झटका दिया है. केस बढ़ते जा रहे हैं. और आईपीएल अप्रैल के पहले हफ्ते में होना है. वैक्सीन जरूर उपलब्ध हो गए हैं. पर कारगर कितना साबित होगा. सब पर सवाल है. कुछ मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स की मानें तो भारत में आईपीएल इस बार भी संभव नहीं है. अगर कोरोना का यही सिलसिला चलता रहा तो. आईपीएल के चेयरमैन बृजेश पटेल ने को कहा कि इस टी20 लीग की संचालन परिषद ने फैसला किया है कि आठ फ्रेंचाइजियों को 21 जनवरी तक रिटेन किए जाने वाले खिलाड़ियों के नाम सौंपने की इजाजत होगी.
