DNA Leads to Mother's Arrest in 2003 Slaying of Twins

In 2003, newborn twin boys were found abandoned in a garbage can. The mother was never found.
Now, Cook County sheriff's detectives have arrested and charged the boys' mother, 41-year-old Antoinette Briley, with two counts of first-degree murder.
DNA tracing led to the identification of 41-year-old Antoinette Briley as the twins' birth mother.
Law enforcement tailed Briley until they saw her drop a cigarette on the ground. They retrieved the cigarette and extracted the DNA from it.
Briley says she gave birth to the twins in a bathtub, then placed them in a duffel bag to take to the hospital. En route, she abandoned them in the dumpster.
