A Belgian racing pigeon called New Kim has become the world's most expensive,... after it was auctioned off for a record 1-point-9 million dollars.
It well surpasses the previous record of 1-point-5 million dollars set by another Belgian pigeon, Armando.
Bidding started at 200 euros,...with two Chinese collectors fighting it out to the end on Sunday.
New Kim went to the owner who had previously bought Armando.
"His intention is to link the two. Since it was a male pigeon last year and now it's a female, he can make a pair and will have a pair of the two most expensive pigeons in the world."
Pigeon racing has been growing in popularity in China,...with birds from Belgium, the home of the sport, being especially prized.
