Sonia Gandhi, the Congress interim president would like to step down from the party president's post and that the party should choose a new president. However, a number of Congress leaders, including Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, feel that this internal deliberation is ill-timed and has further strengthened the BJP.
