00:00Buffalo Bill Jr.
00:07Buffalo Bill Jr. with his little sister, Calamity.
00:15Buffalo Bill Jr. brings you exciting action,
00:22thrills, and fun with Judge Ben Ferron Square Wiley.
00:29Buffalo Bill, Buffalo Bill, Buffalo Bill, Buffalo Bill Jr.
00:39For many years, the history of the American frontier told of one bitter Indian war after another.
00:45Tribe after tribe fought to hold on to their hunting grounds and sacred places.
00:50Finally, Uncle Sam stepped in to make peace.
00:53By treaty, he set aside certain territories as Indian reservations.
00:57The Navajo reservation was located not far from Wileyville.
01:02On one small corner of the reservation was a sacred spot,
01:05a mysterious bubbling tar pit the Navajo called the Grave of the Monsters.
01:11Here they built a shrine to the monster god, Nakale.
01:31My adopted son, Buffalo Bill Jr., was spending so much time with White Eagle, the chief's son,
01:37that he was beginning to suspect he might have a little Navajo blood.
01:46What'd you ask for this time, White Eagle?
01:48Same as always. Peace and happiness for our people.
01:52I thought it was something special. It was a beautiful beadwork.
01:55If we ask the best of the gods, we must offer the best.
01:59I guess that's right. I'm taking these supplies up to your village. You want to come along?
02:03My father sent me here to meet our Indian agent.
02:09There he is now.
02:16Howdy, Mr. Bartlett.
02:17Buffalo Bill Jr., how's Judge Wiley?
02:20Just fine, thanks.
02:21Well, give him my best, will ya? Calamity, too.
02:23I sure will. Well, I gotta get these supplies to Bray Duck, so I'll see you later.
02:28You ready, White Eagle? Show me where you saw those strange men.
02:42Judge, am I glad you're here.
02:44Why?
02:45This box came for you, and it looks like it's mighty important.
02:49You mean your curiosity's killing you, isn't that it?
02:52Well, aren't you gonna open it?
02:54Why? I know what's in it.
02:57But I don't.
02:59Well, all right. I guess I'd better check it over anyway.
03:03Is it for me?
03:04Well, now, I don't know.
03:07Open up.
03:09Yep, I'm sure it is.
03:11What do you mean?
03:12This is my new dental equipment.
03:15Then it's not for me.
03:18Are those the men?
03:21What is that thing on me?
03:23That's a surveyor's trance.
03:25I think I know what they're up to.
03:27Wait here. Keep out of sight.
03:29I will go with you.
03:30If the white men make trouble, it's my job to stop them, not yours.
03:38I'm sure it's not for me.
03:40I'm sure it's not for me.
03:42I'm sure it's not for me.
03:44I'm sure it's not for me.
03:47What's going on here?
03:49Well, and just who are you?
03:51The Indian agent, Jim Bartlett.
03:53Oh, I see.
03:54Well, I'm Dr. Paul Haddon, a naturalist.
03:56This is my technical assistant, Bert Major.
03:59We're just correcting the survey before we file a claim.
04:02Claim? Claim to what?
04:04Well, this little triangle of land.
04:06I found some marvelous relics of the Pliocene period.
04:09Masses and skeletons and...
04:11You don't need to file a claim to dig for bones.
04:14This land belongs to the Navajos.
04:16It's a sacred ground to them.
04:18But the mistake in the survey...
04:19There's no mistake in the survey.
04:21I helped run it myself.
04:27I think you're after something besides old bones.
04:33That survey stake over there.
04:45So it's been moved.
04:47That's against the law.
04:49You're going to jail.
04:50Who's gonna put it there?
05:15Now we are in a mess.
05:16Killing an Indian agent.
05:18Maybe not.
05:20No witnesses.
05:21All we gotta do is get rid of the body.
05:23And how do you propose to do that?
05:25Old Mother Nature will take care of that.
05:27Come on, give me your hand.
05:44Let's go draw up that claim application.
05:56What's that?
05:58That's an Indian shrine.
06:08I wouldn't touch that.
06:09It's a sacred offering.
06:12I wouldn't touch that.
06:13It's a sacred offering.
06:15Yeah?
06:16Looks like a bunch of Indian junk to me.
06:21It's that Indian kid.
06:24He must have seen everything.
06:41Something up there.
07:11What's that?
07:41What's that?
08:12Come on.
08:14Come on.
08:40You sure caught one, didn't you, White Eagle?
08:42Looks pretty bad.
08:43We're gonna have to get some help in quick.
09:13Howdy, Brave Elk.
09:14My son.
09:15Some stranger jumped me.
09:16He took a bad knock on the head.
09:18I sure hope he's all right.
09:19He has hard head.
09:21We take him to a village.
09:25I sure wish there was something I could do to help.
09:27After all, White Eagle's my blood brother.
09:30You're good friends.
09:31You're good friends.
09:32You're good friends.
09:33You're good friends.
09:34You're good friends.
09:35You're good friends.
09:36You're good friends.
09:37You're good friends.
09:38You're good friends.
09:39You're good friends.
09:40You're good friends.
09:41You're good friends.
09:48How to pull teeth painlessly.
09:51First, you take the biangular forceps, and you...
09:57I wonder which one of those newfangled doodads that is.
10:01Take your time, Judge.
10:02Why don't I just...
10:03No!
10:04Come back here.
10:05You said one of your teeth was loose, and we might just as well get it out right now.
10:10Mine's a little cut off by itself, just like the other one's did.
10:13Well, never mind.
10:14I'll handle that.
10:15Well, let's see.
10:16Ah, there we are.
10:18Now, wouldn't you like to put it under your pillow tonight,
10:21and have the good fairies put a big surprise there for you?
10:24I don't like surprises, and I don't believe in fairies.
10:27Here, come back.
10:28Clancy, come back here.
10:30Let me go.
10:31I gotta get out of here.
10:32Why?
10:34The judge got some new dental appointments, and he wants to pull my loose, too.
10:38So that's why you were running.
10:40He wants to work on you next, too.
10:43This is serious.
10:44We're gonna have to do something about it.
10:46You said it.
10:51And now, Calamity, if you'll get right in this chair, little lady, and open wide.
10:55Sure is beautiful stuff.
10:58Must have cost a lot of money.
11:00Yeah, I guess it did.
11:01How much, exactly?
11:02Well, the bill's right there on the register.
11:05Right there, now. Right there.
11:11It's gonna take a lot of patience to pay for this.
11:13Yes, I reckon it will at that.
11:15You're gonna have to let folks know they can come in and get false teeth and so on.
11:18You're gonna have to use promotion.
11:20Promotion?
11:21Sure.
11:22Put a display out in front.
11:23Something that'll make them come in and check.
11:25You mean a sign?
11:27No.
11:28It's gotta be something unusual.
11:30You know?
11:32Say, I think I know just the thing.
11:33Something I saw up on the reservation.
11:34What is it?
11:35Well, just wait till you see.
11:36I'll take it right up and bring it back.
11:37Wait, I'm going with you.
11:38No, you're not.
11:39Why not?
11:40For two...
11:41Reasons, I know.
11:42First...
11:43I'm a girl.
11:44We decided a long time ago that's no reason.
11:47We decided?
11:48What's the other one?
11:49Well, secondly, there's some kind of trouble up on the reservation.
11:52It's safe for me to go because I'm White Eagle's blood brother.
11:55That reason's no good either.
11:56I'm his blood sister.
11:57Let's go.
12:02A motion.
12:04That's ridiculous.
12:05A motion.
12:09Say, I wonder if I've been slickered.
12:20There.
12:21Nobody could tell it wasn't legitimate.
12:23What about the description?
12:25All on here.
12:26Legal and private.
12:27I'd better check this one calculation, though.
12:29Let me have your survey notebook.
12:33Well?
12:34I don't seem to have it.
12:36You mean you lost it?
12:38Maybe in the fight with the agent.
12:40Or at the tar pit.
12:42You two better get back up there and find it right now.
12:45What about you?
12:46I'll finish this application and ride into town.
12:48The judge in Wileyville can file our claim.
12:50I'm going to go.
12:51I'm going to go.
12:52I'm going to go.
12:53I'm going to go.
12:54I'm going to go.
12:55I'm going to go.
12:56The judge in Wileyville can file our claim.
12:58What if he gets suspicious?
12:59Hey, won't you leave that to me?
13:01Now get going and find that notebook.
13:22Now, just what are we looking for?
13:24Oh, I knew I saw her out here someplace.
13:29It isn't here.
13:31Let's travel by the tar pits.
13:37Here it is.
13:40What?
13:45Isn't it a beauty?
13:46A big old two.
13:48When people see this hanging outside the judge's door,
13:50they'll be so curious they'll have to come inside.
13:54So that's what promotion is.
13:57You can have the honor of taking it back to Wileyville
13:59and see that the judge hangs it up outside right away.
14:01Well, where are you going?
14:03Well, I'm going back to the Indian village to see how White Eagle is.
14:06Can I come along?
14:08You know what'll happen if we don't get this back to the judge
14:10and bring him in some dental customers?
14:12Oh, all right.
14:25Come on.
14:51Wait a minute.
14:52What for?
14:53Besides, somebody may hear the shot.
15:22Oh, my God.
15:53You're Judge Wiley?
15:55Well, among many things, I happen to be a judge, yes.
15:58I understand that you can register a claim for me.
16:00Sure can, if everything's in order.
16:07Mm-hmm, I see.
16:10What next, Judge?
16:11Well, you just stand by, Calamity,
16:13until I dispose of this legal matter here.
16:15Will it take long, Judge?
16:17Oh, I don't think so.
16:19Just a moment or two.
16:21Just a moment or two.
16:29You know, I could have sworn that this piece of land
16:31was part of the reservation.
16:33But I guess it won't be the first time
16:35we've found a mistake in a survey.
16:38Oh, say, Judge,
16:40I was kind of curious about that giant tooth
16:42you have displayed outside.
16:44You want some dental work?
16:45Good, reasonable?
16:46Oh, no.
16:47The truth is, I'm a scientist.
16:49I'm interested in it purely as a paleontological relic
16:51of the Cenozoic Age.
16:54Oh, yeah, sure.
16:56Of course.
16:57I should have known.
17:01Now, raise your right hand.
17:04You solemnly swear that the statements made
17:06in this document are true?
17:08I do.
17:09Then I pronounce you ma...
17:11That's the wrong ceremony!
17:15Oh, uh, about that tooth, Judge.
17:17Well, uh, Bill and Calamity found it.
17:19Out on the reservation.
17:21Yeah, at the tar pit,
17:22where the Indian shrine is.
17:24There's lots more of them, too.
17:26You seem to know a lot about Indians, little girl.
17:28Why shouldn't I?
17:30After all, I'm White Eagle's blood sister.
17:33White Eagle?
17:34The chief's son.
17:35Maybe you've seen him.
17:36He's about so high,
17:38and he wears gray pants and a studded velvet.
17:41And you see a lot of this White Eagle?
17:43Yes, practically every day.
17:46I see.
17:48Yeah.
17:49There's your registration receipt,
17:51and there's your claim.
17:52Thank you, Judge.
17:58Say, Judge, uh,
18:00I was wondering, uh,
18:01would you mind if your daughter came along with me
18:03and showed me exactly where and how she found that tooth?
18:06Well, I don't know.
18:07She's the only help I got today.
18:10Well, I guess it's all right.
18:12Sure, run along, honey.
18:13Show him where it was.
18:17Come on.
18:31Well, maybe on the way we can stop by my cabin.
18:33I'll show you my microscope and specimen cages.
18:35Oh, boy!
18:47White Eagle, you got my signal.
18:50We'll get you out, Bill.
19:08How do I look?
19:09Like Navajo brave.
19:11Better than wearing a suit of tar, home.
19:13Glad you got my signal.
19:14We not come because of your signal.
19:16You didn't.
19:17White Eagle tell us of murder.
19:19I saw three men kill Mr. Bartlett, our agent,
19:22and throw him in the sacred pit.
19:24That's why they wanted to kill you.
19:26So I could not tell.
19:27We go try to find Mr. Bartlett.
19:29We better report this to the judge right away.
19:33Come on.
19:45Then you weren't actually with your Indian friend today.
19:48No, not today, but most always.
19:52Gee, this is wonderful.
19:54Yes.
19:55Great thing, science.
19:57When are we going to go look for some more bones?
20:00Soon.
20:01We're waiting for someone.
20:08Adam, we're in trouble.
20:09The young kid they call Bobo Bill Jr. found the book.
20:11I had to get rid of him.
20:12Bill!
20:13You killed Bill!
20:14You killed my brother!
20:16Oh, you fool!
20:24And then they threw the Indian agent's body into the tar pits.
20:27Did you tell the judge how they were dressed?
20:29The leader wore boots, up to here,
20:32and a cap like a hunter wears.
20:34That sounds like Dr. Haddon.
20:35Who?
20:36A fella came in here a while ago and registered a claim.
20:38Calamity went away with him.
20:39He's got calamity?
20:40Oh, my gosh.
20:41We'd better get help and go after her.
20:42White Eagle's people can help.
20:43I'll follow her, because I know her pony's tracks.
20:45But where shall we go?
20:46Tell Brave Elk and his people to wait at the big oak at Skyline Rocks.
20:49I'll signal you there.
20:50Sure, Bill.
21:10Come on.
21:40Come on.
22:11It's a shame to walk away and leave all this
22:13after all the trouble we took.
22:14It's because of that trouble, as you put it,
22:16that we have to leave to save our skin.
22:18But thanks to the judge, we have a valuable claim
22:20worth a lot of money in any state in the Union.
22:22I'll put some of this stuff on the horses.
22:24Bring the girl along.
22:25How far are we taking her?
22:26Just across the line.
22:28We'll have a long walk back.
22:31Come on, sister, you're next.
22:32No, I'm staying right here.
22:34You're coming if I have the chair.
22:40Let's go.
22:44Bill, you're not dead.
22:50You bet I'm not.
22:59I thought we got rid of you once.
23:05Indians!
23:11Come on.
23:24On your feet, mister.
23:29Oh, Bill.
23:36Thanks, Katano.
23:38On your horses.
23:40Let's go.
23:46All that murdering and shooting
23:48over a worthless piece of land
23:50and a pile of old bones he could have had anyway.
23:53Well, maybe he doesn't want the land.
23:55Maybe he wants what's under it.
23:56You mean like that oil coming out of the rock?
23:59What's that good for?
24:01Calamity's right, Bill.
24:03That rock oil's no good.
24:04You can't use it in lamps.
24:06It explodes.
24:07And it's no good for grease with all that tar in it.
24:09Indians say it makes good medicine, but...
24:11Well, maybe he'll tell us.
24:13You're a good persuader, Judge.
24:17Sure.
24:18Why didn't I think of that before?
24:28Well, it was loose all right,
24:30but it won't trouble you anymore.
24:32And while we're at it, we might just...
24:34No, no more, I'll tell you.
24:36Well, you were right.
24:38We were after the rock oil.
24:40It'll be worth a fortune as fuel
24:42running riverboats and tranks.
24:45Mm-hmm.
24:46So Bill was right.
24:52Now White Eagle and the Indians will be rich.
24:55Well, at least they'll be able to buy everything they need.
24:58I sure got a hand it to you, Judge.
24:59Just like you were gonna say,
25:00it's like pulling teeth getting anything out of him.
25:04Yeah, out of you.
25:05Yeah!
