Protesters took the streets of Jakarta and Istanbul on Friday in solidarity with the Uyghur community in China.
The United Nations and human rights groups estimate that over one million people, including ethnic Uyghur Muslims, have been detained in harsh conditions in Xinjiang as part of Beijing’s counter-terrorism programme.
