By the FTC Is Possible.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
is said to be seeking the preliminary
injunction to prevent Facebook from
integrating a number of its messaging services.
The services include Facebook
Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.
An issue is whether or not
integration of these services
would make a Facebook
breakup more difficult.
Facebook has received
considerable criticism in recent
years for anticompetitive activity.
In June, the social media giant
revealed it was being investigated
by the FTC over antitrust concerns.
Antitrust academics have made
a case for the breakup of Facebook,
accusing the company of making
"serial defensive acquisitions.".
Neither the FTC nor Facebook
have commented on the possibility
of a preliminary injunction by the commission
