42 Minor League Baseball Teams Could Be Eliminated By MLB.
Major League Baseball's wild proposal was
first reported by 'The New York Times.'.
The proposal would cut the number of
minor league jobs by roughly 25 percent.
The idea comes amidst pressure to increase the
pay and improve the conditions of players.
More than 40 million fans attended minor league games for the 15th straight season in 2019.
There was a 2.6% increase in attendance compared to 2018.
If all 42 minor league teams were cut, many fans would lose their access to professional baseball.
Some local fans are more than a 12-hour drive
to the nearest MLB city.
The minor leagues are the only logical way
for these fans to connect to the sport
