ECLIPSE was inspired by the variance in light adjustments found in many amateur videos shot using auto white balance. Playing with the language of internet memes (image, text, and humour), the short video is a formal exploration of light and text. Shot entirely, and initially presented, on Snapchat, ECLIPSE employs the vertical video format of the camera-phone in its framing. As the artist performs, the bright light of the table lamp vanishes behind their head, bringing their face in focus, and revealing the previously dark surroundings. The work is part of the artist's ongoing selfie/video-performance practice.
