Shortly after becoming a mother, Lindsey Andrews encountered a problem with childrens literature. While reading about rainbows and princesses was fun, Lindsey sought out literature that encouraged her children to engage their world, address social issues and help form solutions. After a trip to Ethiopia, she encountered a boy whose daily walk for water inspired Lindsey to tell her children, who were two and six at the time, about the global water crisis. They both were eager to help and through sponsorship and advocacy, this youg boy and his family now have access to clean water. The experience inspired "I Walk for Water," a children's book dedicated to those who daily trek to water and encourages the reader to help engage and bring change, with a portion of each book benefiting Water is Life, a non-profit nown internationally for its ability to provide life giving water solutions. Illustrated by Jerry Bennett, world renowned illustrator and scribble, "I Walk For Water" had a storyboard and went tonto print. Soon, "I Walk for Water" will become a documentary. Written, directed and filmed by the gorgeously talented, Lauren Selmon Roberts of "Rainbow Town" documentary fame. The film is tentatively scheduled to release in 2012.
