00:00 [Music] 00:09 welcome back one of the most frequently 00:12 asked questions we get for indoor air 00:14 quality is should I insulate my ductwork 00:16 and this is kind of a loaded question 00:19 because it depends on what type of 00:20 ductwork you have some of the more 00:22 modern ductwork comes pre insulated and 00:24 can have an r-value of six or eight if 00:26 you have the old metal style ductwork 00:29 and it has the yellow fiberglass wrapped 00:31 around it that's been falling off the 00:33 r-value on that is very low if it's been 00:36 pulled off obviously the our value is 00:39 gone because there's no insulation left 00:40 when somebody asks us to re-insulate 00:44 that ductwork that's underneath there 00:45 that's the old metal stuff or even the 00:47 aluminum a luminescent it to take all 00:54 the time and all the labor to try to 00:56 reinsulate that duct system unless 00:58 there's extenuating circumstances like 01:01 you live in a rural area where we've got 01:03 rodents or critters underneath the house 01:04 then we might want to keep that metal 01:07 ductwork because that stuff the rodents 01:09 can't tear up but they can tear all the 01:10 insulation off to make nests in so it 01:12 really just depends on what type of 01:14 ductwork you have in you have to have 01:16 somebody inspect the crawlspace or your 01:17 attic to see what's there and make sure 01:19 that you're making the right choice that 01:21 is the right kind of money invested into 01:23 the system and make sure that it makes 01:24 sense for the home and you know the area 01:26 that you live in see on the next video 01:32 [Music]
