Learning to dance in the rain instead of waiting for the storm to pass by.
The best thing I ever learned in tango is to let my partner go when she moves away from me so she will feel her movement disrupting the connection so she will most likely choose to repair it.
The same remedy though, turns against me if my partner perceives me, letting her go, as a punishment rather than an invitation to reunite,
expecting me to follow her disrupting movement, repairing the connection myself, leaving her in charge of the movement while taking responsibility for it myself...
I decided to leave it up to my partner to choose to use leading skills of the moment to lead me or to totally surrender and let herself be lead by me.
And what a pleasure that is!
