Turkish adaptation of the Grim Brothers and Walt Disney’s epic masterpiece, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

Special thanks: Baran and Jarkas for translating this film, and Rizky Nugraha for helping me design the thumbnail for the video.

PLEASE NOTE that while there are ENGLISH subtitles on this TURKISH film, there are some occasional creative licensing in the translation for artistic purposes and for better understanding to English speaking audiences. However, for the most part, the film is accurately translated word for word.

Originally released in Turkey in 1970 under the title Pamuk Prenses ve 7 cüceler (1970), the film stars legendary Turkish actress and beauty, Zynep Degirmencioglu, in the title role of Snow White. She also played Dorothy in a Turkish adaptation of the Wizard of Oz (Little Ayse and the Magic Dwarfs in the Land of Dreams aka Ayşecik ve Sihirli Cüceler Rüyalar Ülkesinde) and Cinderella in a Turkish adaptation of Cinderella (Sinderella külkedisi).

The film enjoyed a modest success garnering a Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival award and nomination. In Turkish cinema it has become a cult and family classic. To this day, it is shown on television in Turkey during religious or national holidays. The film has a small following in Spain after it was remastered and dubbed in Spanish. In all other parts of the world, this film is virtually unknown.

For Disney fans, Snow White fans, foreign film fans, and any other intrigued individuals, here is you’re chance to see a film that not to many people have seen outside of Turkey and Spain, but holds profound meaning to cultures across the world.
