Trump Mistakenly Says 'Abolition' Of Civil Rights Can Be Credited To People Of Faith

President Trump on Thursday attended the National Prayer Breakfast event.

President Trump on Thursday misspoke, commenting on the "abolition of civil rights." The gaffe was made at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.  Trump told those in attendance: "Since the founding of our nation, many of our greatest strides, from gaining our independence to abolition of civil rights to extending the vote for women, have been led by people of faith and started in prayer. When we open our hearts to faith, we fill our hearts with love." One Twitter user pointed out a Trump tweet from February of 2012 that read: "I watched @BarackObama at the National Prayer Breakfast -- and he looked totally uncomfortable with his words."  That individual went on to note: "Today Trump had such a firm grasp of his own words he counted among one of America's greatest strides the 'abolition of civil rights.'"
