The term Pushya Abhishek means bathing the deities of Lord Krishna in the Hindu month of Pausha

All over India, the festival is celebrated by bathing Lord Krishna’s idol with different ingredients like milk, water, etc.

But in ISKCON center in Mumbai, where the main idol (Utsav Murti) of Sri Sri Radha Gopinath is showered with tons of colorful flower petals.

The festivities start at 7 in the morning where the flower petals are plucked in the temple hall.

The whole temple and deities are dressed and decorate with flowers on this day.

Globally recognized as ISKON Flowers Festival, it was found by HH Radhanath Swami after getting inspired by a verse in Bhagvat Geeta.

HH Radhanath Swami once claimed in one of his lectures that because of his poor understanding of Sanskrit language he mistook the word Pausha as Pusya (the blossom or flower), which soon became a worldwide trend.

We surely agree with him when he said that, “Ignorance is Bliss”. What do you have to say about it, do let us know in the comment section below.
