Adityas are a group of solar deities, who reside in paradise along with their parents, Sage Kashyap and Aditi.
According to Bhagavata Purana, in each month of the year, a different Aditya shines as the Sun-God.
The oldest Vedic texts claim that a series of twelve Devas together perform as the Sun-God called Surya.
They are namely called Mitra, Varun, Vaman, Aryaman, Daksh, Bhaag, Ansh/ Amsa, Dhatri/ Tvastr, Pushan/ Ravi, Savitra/ Parjanya and Vivasvan.
In different scriptures, each of the Solar God is given a task to perform during their rule.
The deities are portrayed collectively in the Indian sun temples, like Konark Sun Temple and Surya Pahar Temple in Goalpara.
It is mentioned in Ramayana that Sage Agastya initiated Lord Rama to sun worship through the Aditya Hridaya Mantra.
