Kenya’s ambassador to the United Nations Macharia Kamau says Kenya will not be cowed by a letter from the ICC cautioning against discussing the use of recanted testimony.
Kamau says violations of the agreement by the ICC undermine the principles under which the court is founded.
Solicitor General Njee Muturi who is representing Attorney General Githu Muigai at the Assembly of State Parties in the Hague says Kenya deserves better treatment from the ICC given its record of co-operating with the court.
Macharia and Muturi are part of the Kenyan delegation that is led by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
She says Kenya will push to reopen debate on Rule 68 at the Assembly of States Parties that opens Wednesday.
Kenya also wants an audit into the sourcing of witnesses by the International Criminal Court in the case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua arap Sang.
