Health Care Industry Marketing
Soars to $30 Billion a Year A study published in JAMA
reveals that the industry's
marketing doubled from
1997 to 2016. The study found that most
of the money is spent on
trying to influence doctors. But over the past 20 years,
“direct to consumer” advertising
has increased by almost $10 billion. These ad campaigns create worry
about diseases and demand for
unnecessary drugs and exams. Diana Zuckerman, via NBC News The high costs are passed
on to everyone in the form
