Trump: Drones Are 'Lot Of Fun' But 'Good Old Fashioned' Border Wall Works

President Trump on Sunday posted another tweet about the border wall.

President Trump has expressed his preference for a border wall over other methods like drones even as the resulting government shutdown affects hundreds of thousands of government workers.
"The only way to stop drugs, gangs, human trafficking, criminal elements and much else from coming into our Country is with a Wall or Barrier," Trump tweeted Sunday. "Drones and all of the rest are wonderful and lots of fun, but it is only a good old fashioned Wall that works!"
The message is in line with one he had written the day before, which says: "I won an election, said to be one of the greatest of all time, based on getting out of endless & costly foreign wars & also based on Strong Borders which will keep our Country safe. We fight for the borders of other countries, but we won't fight for the borders of our own!"
The partial government shutdown began early Saturday morning after lawmakers could not agree on a budget given the president's initial demand for $5 billion in border wall funding.
However, according to Bloomberg, the White House has agreed to lower that amount, as of Saturday, to "$2.5 billion for border security, including new fencing and $400 million for Trump immigration priorities."
The Democrats, meanwhile, have offered $1.3 billion for border security with no money allocated for a border wall with Mexico.
White House budget director Mick Mulvaney has indicated that the government shutdown will likely not be over soon, telling Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace, "It's very possible that this shutdown will go beyond the 28th and into the new Congress."
But senior House Democrat Nancy Pelosi seemed to be more optimistic about a speedy outcome, saying Saturday morning, "We have certainty. We will end this the first week in January."
