The mission to encourage folk music and artisans from Bengal will be organising a two day fair in Mumbai on 14th and 15th of February under the name "Lal Mati Utsav o Gaan Mela" where artisans will be taking part with their products and folk musicians which will portray “Santal Dance” (a form of tribal dance and folk music which is getting extinct), Jhumur Gaan (folk Music which inspired several Bollywood numbers), Chhau Dance (Mask Dance) and Baul (Bengal’s Sufi singers) . The mornings will start with Classical music by eminent classical musicians and instrumentalists where renowned Classical Slide Guitarist-Mohan Veena player and Grammy award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt will be performing live on 14th Feb (evening). “Bosonto Utsav” as celebrated in Shantiniketan will also be presented by Shantiniketan Alumni Association on 15th Feb, and workshops on “Chhau Dance” the masked dance will also be conducted. The event will also take care of the foodies with Bengali gourmet and music stall of Bihaan Music will offer the choicest music covers for the music lovers.
