Born in highly enriched musical family of Kolkata, Kalyanjit is one of the brightest young Sitarists in the field of Indian Classical Music. His music primarily signifies the ‘The Senia Malhar Gharana’ style of playing. Maintaining the true heritage of Hindustani Classical Music, his aesthetical approach along with the rhythm, naturally captivate the Listeners.
He is the son and disciple of the Sitar Maestro Pt. Kushal Das, and also receives training from Pt Sanjoy Bandopadhyay. His mother Smt. Sujata Das initiated him in vocal training and now he receives guidance from Ud. Rashid Khan. In the field of Tala & Laya. Kalyanjit got the affectionate guidance of Sri Biplab Bhattacharyya from his childhood and is presently guided by the Maestro Pt Subhankar Banerjee. He was also fortunate to attend workshops of the Tabla Wizard Pt. Shankar Ghosh.
Kalyanjit has been blessed to perform with eminent Tabla Maestro Pt Swapan Chowdhury, Pt. Kumar Bose, Pt. Arup Chatterjee, Pt. Subhankar Banerjee, Pt. Parimal Chakraborty, Pt. Abhijit Banerjee & Pt. Ramdas Palsule
He is also a Sitar Tutor at the Bengal Parampara Sangeetalaya, a music academy under Bengal Foundation, Dhaka.
Kalyanjit’s performances, all across the globe have lifted the listeners one step ahead in the journey towards divinity.
